Planning & Evaluation Studio
Use experiment cards and mark-style prompts to plan methods, choose controls, improve weak setups, and rewrite vague evaluation into exam-credit language.
Learning goals
- Use SI quantities, units, prefixes and dimensional analysis.

Fair-test check
Study lensSeparate independent, dependent, and control variables for a practical aim.
Try this
Do not list apparatus randomly. Start from the target quantity, then build a method that controls the right variables and fixes a real weakness.
Learn to
- Separate independent, dependent, and control variables for a practical aim.
- Choose sensible ranges, repeats, apparatus, and safety points for a workable method.
- Write evaluation comments that connect a measurement weakness to a specific improvement.
Exam transfer
Governing idea
A valid test changes one independent variable, measures one dependent variable, and controls other factors that could change the outcome.
Model boundary
The cards model common exam experiments, not a complete laboratory risk assessment. Real work also needs apparatus-specific checks and local safety procedures.
Avoid this trap
An improvement must name the weakness, the specific change, and why that change improves the measurement. 'Repeat it' alone is rarely enough.
How to explore
Train variable choice, method design, evaluation language, and targeted improvements for A Level Paper 4 planning questions.
Predict the outcome, change one variable at a time, then interpret the result. Completion records participation only and does not award mastery.
